Queen Elizabeth II has decided to cancel her visit to Northern Ireland on the grounds of medical advice.

The Queen, for her part, is 95-years-old with a potential Platinum Jubilee set to go ahead next year in order to mark what would be her 70th year in charge.
Therefore, she will want to be in the best possible health for that ceremony. And given that she is undertaking more duties following the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, doctors have advised the Queen to be selective in her visits.
In an official statement on behalf of the Queen, a representative of the Royals said: “The Queen has reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days.
“[She is] in good spirits” [but] disappointed [to miss the trip]. The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland and looks forward to visiting in the future.”
This news got many people on social media worrying about the state of her health. The main reason for this apprehension was because just last week, the Queen had been spotted attending a special Thanksgiving service by using a walking stick.
While that may not be unheard of for elderly people, the Queen has not used one since the early 2000s following some surgery on her knee. Therefore, people began to speculate whether her health was deteriorating.
To make matters even more worrying, the monarch was advised to also give up drinking recently. These changes to her health do raise questions over how long the Queen can continue to remain in charge.
Despite the talk, she is still looking to be in control. After all, she had just won the ‘Oldie of the Year’ award, an accolade that was given to her by The Oldie magazine for being the oldest member of the Royal family.
But in a true witty style, the Queen rejected it to show that her mind was still fully at work. In response, a representative for her stated: “Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel.
“As such, the Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept and hopes you find a more worthy recipient.”
