Sammy Guevara is the latest TNT champion, beating Miro for the belt. However, Sammy Guevara, unlike other champions, hasn’t had many matches for the belt since then. Instead, he has had two matches for the belt currently. One against Bobby Fish and another against Ethan Page.
Instead of going into TNT focused matches like in the past. Sammy’s championship run has been overlooked by Jericho and the Inner Circle’s feud with the American Top Team instead.
Terrible timing for Sammy Guevara to win the belt
It felt like the whole run of Sammy Guevara was missed. Miro ran short, and Sammy felt slightly rushed. Now that the focus isn’t on Sammy but more on faction warfare. It feels like the whole timing of Sammy’s championship run should have been delayed until after this feud between the Inner Circle and the American Top Team.
Making the focus on Sammy’s run as the champion more focused on the champion and not on faction warfare. Especially with Jericho getting a lot of time on the mic as the leader of the faction.
How long will this last?
Faction warfare seems to last a while in AEW, with the stories usually lasting months. We have currently had a five Vs five tag team match scheduled for Full Gear and already had the match between Ethan Page and Sammy Guevara.
However, it’s likely we will see Sammy Guevara Vs Scorpion Sky at some point in the feud and most likely, more MMA athletes get involved in multiple matches. Likely, we won’t see Sammy Guevara’s run as champion away from the Inner Circle for a while, sadly.
