Tonight was supposed to feature a first time ever match up between Jon Moxley & Orange Cassidy. Two polar opposites, with one fighting with a lax nature and slick counter wrestling, and the other coming out hard and fast with unmatched aggression. The winner would have went to Full Gear to take on Bryan Danielson in the finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, but real life had other plans – and Moxley is out.
However, while Orange Cassidy getting to move to the finals of a tournament would have been very fitting for his character? That’s not the AEW way. He will have to earn his way through like everyone else, and Tony Khan announced his new opponent would be revealed on AEW Dynamite. It would be none other than, former TNT Champion – Miro. Really, the same level of challenge as Moxley.
Bryan Danielson Scouts His Potential Opponents
Danielson would join commentary for this match, scouting both potential opponents. He’s never faced Orange Cassidy. In WWE back in 2018, he met the man then known as Rusev and lost, meaning he could redeem that at Full Gear. OC would come to the ring with injured ribs, a target for God’s Favorite Champion to exploit. Remember – Miro has lost one singles match in AEW. He’s 15-1, one of the best records in all of AEW. His right leg was bandaged, so neither man came in without battle wounds.
OC would try to keep away from Miro as he looked to get his hands in his pockets. The mindgames of OC can frustrate, but when he got the high ground and went for a dive- Miro caught him and suplexed him. He was driven into the ringpost, thrown into the apron, and back in the ring he nailed a picture perfect suplex – before two more. Bearhug was applied, and OC was slammed into the mat soon after.
Miro Punches Ticket To Full Gear
OC hit a quick stunner, before being crushed into the corner and stomped out. Miro took a forearm shot, and was dropkicked into the corner before the big DDT. The neck of Miro is his weak spot, but it only got two. Orange Punch saw Miro slide outside, before OC dove onto him and through a table. Countout win is a win, but Miro barely made the ten count.
Orange Cassidy nailed Beach Break for a two count in the ring, and needed that Orange Punch. Instead the Body Block and thrust kick would be followed by Game Over, and Miro is going to Full Gear. Can Miro defeat Bryan Danielson at Full Gear to claim a title shot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
