There have been few signings with more missed potential than with Sarray in WWE NXT. She originally signed on with WWE in 2019, but was unable to make it to the United States to start at the WWE Performance Center until 2021 thanks to COVID-19. At that point, things looked to be going in the right direction – with Sarray being treated as a big deal, and given a four match winning streak. However, things would stumble with the NXT 2.0 transition, leaving things unclear.
Sarray Is Lost, Finding Herself Back At Home?
Last we saw of ‘The Warrior of the Sun’ in NXT 2.0, she battled former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray in a losing effort. Afterwards, she’d comment on social media saying the following.
“Sarray is lost. Nothing I do is working as planned. Why can’t I win…”
This would be followed up by days of silence, before a notice of her returning to her homeland of Japan.
“Sarray is back in Japan. But don’t worry I’ll be back soon. Thank you everyone for your patience.”
It’s unclear if it’s an injury, family issue, or just a case of homesickness – but we can’t expect Sarray on TV anytime soon. WWE can be good for allowing talent to take time as needed for issues such as this, especially when they are low on the totem pole of the company like Sarray here.
A Chance To Reintroduce Sarray
She’s been reduced to a glorified jobber in NXT 2.0, which seemingly has no need for a talent like her anymore. It’s a sad role to see such a talented young name in, especially as WWE hopes to build their future in NXT 2.0. However, we could be at the start of a storyline for Sarray. Having her return home allows for WWE to tell a tale of her finding what made her the “Warrior of The Sun” in the first place.
Right now, the characters of MSK are being refined through taped segments as they look to find The Shaman, who is likely Jeff Hardy. Something similar with Sarray could really get fans behind her – and give a reason to care. There’s plenty of chance to do something character driven here, which could be just what Sarray needed.
