That is according to British journalist Peter Allen. The primary reason why this has happened is that Meghan was found to have misled the public when she initially claimed that she did not authorise nor have any involvement in the book entitled ‘Finding Freedom.’
This book was designed to showcase her and Harry’s time in the Royal family as well as their exit. However, when a Court of Appeal ruled that Meghan did have some involvement, she was forced to apologise.
At the time of the incident, she had said: “I apologise to the Court for the fact that I had not remembered these exchanges at the time. I had absolutely no wish or intention to mislead the Defendant or the Court.”
This is the reason why the French press have reportedly gotten so angry. And it marks a shift away from the positive press that they had been getting up until this point within the country.
In a statement, Peter said: “[This is a surprise as] the French media has been quite respectful towards them in the past…[This will be] devastating… for Project Sussex.”
Accordingly, a French magazine by the name of ‘Paris Match,’ had decided to address the couple on the front cover of their magazine. In the picture here, the headline can be translated as the following: “Why Meghan lied,” while another headline stated: “The mask slips.”
The magazine does have some influence given that it has sold over 500,000 copies. In addition, the magazine has close to half a million followers on Instagram.
Therefore, their content is going to have some sway with the large number of people who engage in Royal content within the country. These comments have also been backed up by another high-profile media person.
David Wooding, who happens to be the political editor at the ‘Sun of Sunday’, had this to say: “Harry and Meghan’s public profiles [are] starting to change for the worse outside the UK too, it seems.”
This is the last thing that Meghan and Harry will want to hear.
