Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jennifer Shah’s assistant Stuart Smith has decided to plead guilty in relation to charges of telemarketing fraud.

Jennifer and Stuart, for their part, had been accused of defrauding money from a variety of wealthy clients. So much so that Jennifer’s future on the show is uncertain, with a trial set to go ahead with a potential hefty fine/ jail time to follow.
To make matters even worse for Jennifer, Stuart’s guilty pledge at a New York court is not going to do her any favours. According to People magazine, Stuart had said the following in court: “I knowingly and intentionally discussed and engaged with other individuals to develop a plan or operation to obtain money by false representation.
“[I did it] by offering and inducing individuals, many of whom were over 50 years of age.” And yet, Jennifer’s social media activity is not going to do her any favours.
She has continued to deny that she is guilty of the charges which has the following implications. First of all, these comments would only work against her at the trial if they are proven to be false.
Secondly, given that Staurt has stated that he is guilty, then it suggests two things. Jennifer could be lying and therefore suggesting that Stuart is guilty instead. Or that Jennifer is lying to the public.
In a prior post to her fans on Instagram, she remarked: “They have zero compassion for me and my family. It takes an evil person to take delight in what we’re going through.
“I’m [100%] innocent and I hope the ladies each learn a valuable lesson from this & stop judging others.” It will be fascinating to see how Jennifer decides to react given what we now know.
If she does decide to not tell the truth, then her castmates on the show are certainly not going to show her any love. After all, the last thing they want to do is be associated with someone who could be guilty of doing such a crime.
