Bryan Danielson is a man on a mission. He’s already earned his shot at the AEW World Championship, but he wants Hangman Page to be ready for that match. In the meantime, he will take down The Dark Order member by member, starting with Colt Cabana in Chicago. This is not the first time these two have wrestled, first meeting in Ring of Honor in 2004 – but tonight they have their biggest audience yet. At ROH Gut Check in 2006, they went broadway – their last singles meeting. Could we see an epic tonight on Dynamite?
Britt Baker Has Riho To Worry About On Friday, Colt Cabana Has To Worry About Bryan Danielson Tonight
Before this match, we’d see Tony Schiavone send hard news to AEW World Women’s Champion Britt Baker. Riho was never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out, and on Black Friday Rampage – she has a chance to beat Baker. Should she get a win, we have a championship match to look forward too.
Cabana would get a huge reaction from his hometown, while Danielson got a very mixed reaction – his heel turn working for tonight. Danielson quickly wanted to end things with a cross armbreaker, but Cabana found the ropes. Cabana would grab the arms of Danielson and hoist him up high with his legs, an impressive move but not one that will win the match.
Danielson slipped free, and started to throw some kicks in the corner. He’d miss the dropkick however, Cabana knowing his opponent well. A bionic elbow landed, but Flying Apple was countered. The running dropkick would land on the second attempt, but he was unable to get the avalanche backdrop. Cabana fought him off and nailed a perfect moonsault for two. Danielson would grab the arms and trip the legs, stomp the head of Cabana in and apply the LeBell lock for the win. There were teeth left on the mat, the damage Danielson can do – and that’s a man he considers a friend.
Hangman Page Wants A Fight
After the match, Tony Schiavone would speak with Danielson – saying that he’s not making many friends in AEW. Danielson would say that it’s funny how fickle the Chicago crowd is, having gotten two very different reactions. He’s not fickle. Danielson called his shot. He said he’d kick the head of Cabana in, and did so. Next week, he’ll take out a member of Dark Order from Georgia.
All roads lead to Hangman Page, who’d make his way to the ring with that big belt looking perfect over his shoulder. He’s dressed to fight tonight – and agreed that Danielson made his point. Tonight in Chicago, this is a venue that means a lot to Page. He’s ready to go right here – right now! However, Danielson just wrestled a match. That’s not Cowboy Shit, beating a weakened man – it’s coward shit.
Page just wants a fight and offers Danielson the first shot. Hands behind his back, Danielson calls it an insult before slapping him to start a brawl.
