Roman Reigns has been one of the most dominant forces in WWE since his return in 2020. He claimed the WWE Universal Championship, and no one has been able to take it from him yet – despite many trying. Reigns has been doing some of the best work of his career in the ring and on the microphone, having really found himself in the Tribal Chief character.
However, on a recent episode of Smackdown Live, he said the following. “I’m your Tribal Chief and I’m the greatest of all time. And when my days are done around here, which could be sooner than later, the whole world will acknowledge me.”
While these comments on their own don’t add up to much more than Reigns being in character – they are compounded by comments outside of the ring. Much like his cousin Dwayne Johnson and former WWE Champion John Cena, Reigns could be looking to go Hollywood. .
Roman Reigns Wants To Move Into Hollywood
He’d infer just as much on “The Michael Kay Show” ahead of Survivor Series – as this quote shows.
“We’ll have to see. I think there’s going to be some moves made here pretty soon. There’s always these speculations, these contract talks. All that pushing, that’s my business. People who can dive deep enough, I’m sure they can uncover enough stones to figure out the timeframe, but that’s something I definitely want to dabble in, I want to gain more experience, and I want to use these tools that I’ve learned. WWE has done so right by me. They’ve given me so much, and placed so many great blessings and opportunities in front of me. I just had to capture them, I just had to grab that ball and run with it.
I like to think that along the way, I just picked up so many skills and experienced so many different things that are going to help me because at the end of the day, we all know how this works. This is a young man’s game. You can’t fall down your whole life. You have to get to a point where you can transition, where you can connect and create new, fresh, evolved content for your fan base and your supporters. I think I have the ability to do that. At the end of the day, it’s about getting into that game, being thrown into that fire and seeing how you do. I have a pretty good track record with being thrown in the deep end, and if that’s what happens in Hollywood, I’m looking to swim.”
What Will WWE Do Without Roman Reigns?
When it comes to the contract of Roman Reigns, he signed an extension in August of 2019. Assuming this was a normal three year contract, he will be with WWE on it until August of 2022. While his outright leaving might not be in the cards, his current deal might be the last time he is with WWE full time. Reigns is 36, and is still in his physical prime – and is the biggest star WWE has.
If he leaves outright, WWE could be in trouble. They already have a lack of stars. Then factor in recent releases alongside names like Adam Cole & Bryan Danielson leaving? The WWE roster is really relying on all it’s big remaining names, and Reigns is one of their biggest alongside Becky Lynch.
