A book has claimed that Prince Charles was the one who had reportedly asked questions about Meghan Markle’s son Archie and his skin colour while she was pregnant.
Book Claims Prince Charles Had Queries About Archie’s Skin Color
That is according to author Christopher Andersen and his book entitled ‘Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan.’
Meghan, for her part, made a controversial bombshell during her Oprah Winfrey interview in which she claimed that there were reservations being expressed about the colour of Archie’s skin.
While Meghan and Prince Harry did not go on to name which individual had done so, if Christopher’s account is taken to be true, then it would explain why the pair were so reluctant to disclose the matter, given that this would have totally destroyed the reputation of Charles.
According to reports, Charles had said to Duchess Camilla the following “I wonder what the children will look like?” to which she replied: “Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain.”
Thereafter, it is claimed that Charles had replied with the following: “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”
The response on social media was mixed. Although some people went on to condemn Charles for these alleged comments, others stated that his views were simply a case of curiosity rather than them having any racial malice.
One person on Twitter wrote: “The idea that one isn’t able to speculate about the skin colour of a baby from an interracial couple without being labelled a racist is stupid.”
While another stated: “Charles was taught bigotry from his mom and dad the King and Queen.” In response, the Royals came out to deny that such an incident had taken place.
While this is to be expected, given that an admission would no doubt destroy Charles’ reputation, it does show that things between Harry and Meghan in relation to the monarchy are not going to be improved unless this issue is dealt with.
A spokesman on behalf of Charles stated the following: “This is fiction and not worth further comment.” Time will tell whether there is any truth to these claims. The only thing we can do is wait.
