The WWE Women’s division took a major hit earlier this year. While training in the WWE Performance Center ahead of WWE’s return to live crowds, Bayley would suffer an injury. It was an ACL Tear, something which keeps someone out of action for six to nine months. This came just ahead of her planned ‘I Quit’ match with Bianca Belair which was set for Money In The Bank 2021. However, things are getting close – as she would state in a very ‘in-character’ injury update.
Bayley Is Doing Great, Still A Heel
Running a Q&A session on her Instagram recently, doing so in support of the Family Giving Tree charity. Bayley would be asked the obvious question of when to expect her back in the ring – and how is she feeling? Bayley would respond with the following.
“So my knee is doing great, my ankle is doing great, my calf is doing great, my shin is doing great, my hip is doing great. My mind is doing great. So it’s only a matter of time. I’m not going to tell you when and I don’t want all these idiots watching to know when. But I’m going to be coming back soon, maybe, no. Y’all better be ready, better be ready.”
This is a perfect response, giving the info – but reminding fans that she was playing a heel role before her injury. She will be picking up right where she left off upon her return, but where will she be on her return?
A Free Agent Within WWE
During the most recent WWE Draft, Bayley was someone who would go undrafted due to her injury status. This puts her as a free agent, able to go to Smackdown, RAW or even NXT 2.0. Smackdown was her brand pre-injury, and a 380 day reign as Smackdown Women’s Champion showed a high level of dominance on Friday Nights.
RAW has Bianca Belair, who was Bayley’s big rival before she got injured, giving an easy storyline to kick off. NXT 2.0 is unlikely to get Bayley, but having one of the best workers in the women’s division back in NXT would help with a lot of the fresh talent making their way to TV.
We can likely expect Bayley back no later than the Royal Rumble, with her return potentially being saved for that night for maximum effect. Have you missed Bayley on WWE TV? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
