Bayley is obsessed with becoming Smackdown Women’s Champion once again. While her 380 day reign has been over for months now, she still wishes to reclaim the belt and will do anything to take it from current champion Bianca Belair. Tonight, she will have the chance to do anything as they meet in the daunting Hell in a Cell structure. Belair becomes the first woman not of the ‘Four Horsewomen of NXT’ to enter Hell in A Cell, while Bayley was inside last year where she lost the Smackdown Women’s Championship to Sasha Banks. Can Bayley have more success tonight?
The Braid Of Bianca Belair Has Never Been Used Better
Belair kicked off quickly with some scoop slams, before Bayley slipped to the outside. Bayley pulled Belair onto the rope and threw some chairs into the ring, before grabbing one and sending the other out of the ring, begging the question of why grab two chairs. Belair dodged the slow attack with the chair and got a roll up for a two count. She’d use her braid as a whip against the chair, before cornering Bayley and hitting a dropkick.
Bayley blocked a superkick attempt, but Belair landed firmly on her feet and went back up, only to fail a second time and be slammed face first off the ring post and thrown into an adjacent post. Belair would be locked into a version of the Disarmher, but Bayley didn’t keep the hold applied, and instead went for a pinfall for a two count. Bayley nailed an armbreaker and went outside to shove the steel steps into the ring.
Belair had her braid stomped on as Bayley stood on the steps, only to be yanked down onto her tailbone. Bayley was able to maintain control with a knee strike to the jaw, before tying the braid to the bottom rope before going for a knee strike. Belair dodged and tripped Bayley into the steps, before freeing herself and throwing the steel steps at Bayley.
Bayley would bite Belair to stop the advantage on the outside, before grabbing a kendo stick. She’d shush the empty arena and whack Belair, before hitting a running Code Red into the cage. Bayley grabbed some Kendo Sticks taped together like Darth Maul’s double lightsaber, and put them from the ring to the cage. Belair would hit a spinebuster through the kendo sticks, and push Bayley into the ring for a two count.
Bayley Isn’t Laughing Now
Bayley would fight back by kicking a steel chair into the face of Belair in the ring, before trapping the hurt arm in the chair and wrenching it. She’d take a seat and tie the braid of Belair to the chair, before pulling her in and kicking her in the face. Bayley would laugh in the face of Belair but get slapped, and Belair pulled the chair into a knee strike from Bayley.
Belair would tie her hair to the wrist of Bayley, and nail some shoulder tackles. She yanked Bayley outside and punished her using kendo sticks and the cell. Bayley wanted out of the cage, but the referee guarding the door wouldn’t let her out. Now, Belair was the one laughing, as she slammed Bayley’s face off the cage.
Bayley found a ladder under the ring and nailed Belair with it. Back in the ring, she’d trap the braid underneath before trapping Belair in the middle and stomp down. Bayley nailed the Rose Plant, but Belair rolled away to get enough time to recover. They’d battle for control of a backslide, before Belair got the Glam Slam into the corner. Belair stacked a ladder onto Bayley, and went for a Frog Splash but Bayley dodged. The landing was stuck, and Belair hit a running senton, before hitting KOD onto the ladder for the win.
This match truly used the braid of Bianca Belair to the best effect yet. It was prominent due to no DQ nature, with Bayley trying to use it as a weapon and failing constantly. Bayley failed to break Belair down, and Belair was able to pull out an impressive win. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
