Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have failed to build a following in the United States and are less popular than Prince William and Kate Middleton. Could it be that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are trying too hard to be popular?
Royal Expert Claims Harry and Meghan Have Failed To Build A ‘Support Base’ In The US
That is according to Royal expert Daniela Elser. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have attempted to rebrand themselves within the US. We only have to look at their controversial interview on Oprah Winfrey which was aired on prime-time CBS and left Meghan Markle with the unflattering sobriquet Princess Pinocchio!
In addition, further attempts have been made by Meghan through the following. First of all, she attempted to cross over into the celebrity world by making a failed appearance on the ‘Ellen Degeneres Show.’
Unfortunately, she was slammed by none other than her father Thomas Markle. Moreover, her attempts to get involved in American politics by advocating paid parental leave were also met with opposition by virtue of people seeing Meghan Markle as interfering in US politics.
This is unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton who have become more popular in the America. In an interview, Daniela said:”[William and Kate are] all over magazine covers [in America].
“[Meghan and Harry have] failed to build the sort of broad support base that many, including myself, expected them to.”
Nevertheless, it is important to consider the following things. First of all, it is natural that Harry and Meghan are going to take time to build their brand. They have only recently left the Royal family and do not have the finances to compete with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Secondly, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s arrival into the US has been talked about for some time as shown by the fact they will be hosting the Earthshot initiative in 2022.
This is designed to pay homage to those that have taken steps to protect the environment. And that is something that Harry and Meghan will have to deal with.
Daniela’s following comments confirmed as much: “Next year could see a renewed Windsor assault on the US with news that the next outing of the Duke of Cambridge’s Earthshot Prize will be held in the States raising the possibility of a royal tour there also.”
The jury may still be out for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the US but for now they are trailing Prince William and Kate Middleton.
