Malakai Black is building something in AEW with The House Of Black. Details are still foggy, but his recent attack on Julia Hart had to mean something. It was terrifying for Hart, and for her friends Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr. Garrison is ready to step up to Black, which could have people asking “Who the fuck WAS Griff Garrison” when the dust settles, as the rookie might be in deep over his head.
Griff Garrison Fades To Black
As the lights went out, Malakai Black got a great reaction from the crowd. When he’s in the ring, you know something special is coming. No one knows what he is going to do – or if The House Of Black will finally get another member showing up tonight. Griff Garrison would be ready to take the fight to Black however, and has all the raw skill to make it happen.
Garrison would rush towards Malakai Black, and took a roundhouse kick to the head. He’s very close to his hometown, and was a bit fired up. Brian Pillman Jr. would run a distraction and allow Garrison to nail a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Black would almost get the kneebar applied— but Garrison got the ropes. Garrison was taken into the corner with some big strikes, about ten fast and hard blows from Black before Garrison could get one in.
Black was yanked onto the top rope for the stun, before Garrison hit a stiff rolling elbow for a two count. A spinning knee strike stunned Garrsion, before Black Mass was teased. Instead, Black grabbed a single leg crab and forced the submission. Pillman Jr. was in the ring soon to help his partner, before he ran into a Black Mass kick.
Sting & Friends Have Their Warpaint On
In what could be the biggest main event in AEW Dynamite history, we will finally see CM Punk & MJF lock up. It’s been weeks of insults, weeks of personal attacks – they’re finally in a match together. However it’s not one on one, as Darby Allin & Sting also look to close up their issues with FTR… who just happen to be allies of MJF. It’s an all-star game of AEW in 2021, and could go either way.
Sting, Darby Allin & Punk all had their war paint on – and CM Punk was wearing some Sting tights as well. MJF would look to start the match with CM Punk – and they’d circle the ring before Harwood was tagged in. Punk would trade headlock takeovers and slaps, before taking Harwood down with a deep armdrag.
Allin & Wheeler would get tags, and the speed of Allin would allow him to get the armbar attempt. MJF would tag in, and we’d see Punk in soon after – and MJF ran like a toddler liberated from their diaper… before tagging in Wheeler. Sting would get the tag for some big arm wrenches, before he’d kick the legs out from underneath Wheeler. He couldn’t set up Scorpion Deathlock – and Wheeler leaped for the tag to MJF.
MJF hit a chop and Sting laughed it off before the short-arm clothesline. Punk was tagged in again, and he’d have to chase MJF off into the crowd. Up and around, MJF would get back to the ring and tag out – before Allin just tossed himself onto The Pinnacle. Sting would take the fight to Wheeler in the ring, nailing a suplex.
The Pinnacle Keep Their Control
Punk after his nice jog around the arena was ready to get into the match, and Wheeler was quickly getting himself isolated. Allin would tag in and get flapjacked onto the top rope – allowing The Pinnacle to swarm him on the floor. He’d be choked in the corner as Sting tried to make the save – distracting the referee.
Wheeler would cut the ring in half, but Allin would block a scoop slam into a small package — before nailing a body slam of his own. Sting would get a big hot tag, and took on both members of FTR before getting a spinebuster on MJF! Some stinger splashes were followed by the coffin splash and the rising knee strike.
Harwood would get locked in the Scorpion Deathlock, but Wheeler ran the distraction as MJF hit a bulldog. Sting was in the wrong part of the ring, as MJF would choke him out to set up a two count. Harwood would grab a test of strength with Sting, before just locking on an abdominal stretch. Sting would weather the storm and get the tag to CM Punk for a big hot tag. FTR took rising knee strikes before a bulldog/clothesline combo and a dive to the floor.
MJF Flees CM Punk One More Time
Punk came off the top rope with a diving crossbody, before a swinging neckbreaker got him a two count. Harwood would set up a top rope brainbuster but Punk would fight his way free. Wheeler would help to set up the Powerplex, however only got a two count. Allin would help to get Punk back on top, and a roundhouse kick to Harwood would open up a tag.
Instead, he’d stand and fight with Harwood — only for FTR to nail Big Rig! Sting made the save before MJF nailed a DDT, but Sting would barely register that before MJF tried to flee the ring and got the middle rope to the crotch before he was thrown onto FTR at ringside. Sting would dive off the top to the outside, and I need to remind you he’s 62 years old.
MJF would tag out to Harwood when the GTS was set. A GTS, Scorpion Death Drop and Coffin Drop would get the win!
Professional wrestling sometimes just needs to be a fun time, and that’s exactly what this main event accomplished. The crowd was red-hot from the entrances to the finish, and the action being amazing didn’t hurt that. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
