Meghan Markle could be called to testify under oath in Prince Andrew’s sexual assault case that was put forward by Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
Attorney Claims Meghan Markle Could Testify In Prince Andrew’s Sexual Assault Case-‘She Would Be A Credible Witness’
That is according to Virginia’s attorney David Boies. Such a statement is a strong one, but on closer inspection, it is easy to see why this may be the case.
First of all, Meghan is one of the very few people who is well aware of what Andrew is like given the fact that she was in the Royal family.
And now that she is no longer connected to the institution, having left in 2020, the courts may be interested to hear an objective view of Andrew’s behaviour.
Secondly, given that she is now residing in the United States, from a legal point of view it would be very easy to arrange for her to testify. In an interview with Fox News, David said: “She is one of a number of people that we are considering deposing.
“Several of them will have to be of people who witnessed Prince Andrew with Virginia Giuffre.” Despite this claim being put forward, it is not clear whether this is going to be a practical thing.
Given that Meghan’s relations with the Royal family are not on good terms, it is questionable whether she would be able to give an objective testimony.
In addition, it could also lead to further disharmony as it would pit Meghan against Queen Elizabeth’s son and put Prince Harry firmly in the middle of this dispute. But for David, he feels Meghan could prove valuable.
He added: “I think because of her character and her interest in combating this kind of abusive behavior she would be a credible witness.
“We think that she would be a candid witness…if she has information, we think she would be honest and forthcoming in testifying.”
It will be fascinating to see whether this does end up materialising. After all, it could have huge implications on whether Meghan will ever be able to reconcile her differences with the Royals.
