Reports indicate that Meghan Markle’s spending on clothes increased exponentially ever since she decided to leave the Royal family with Prince Harry.
Study Claims That Meghan Markle Spent More On Clothing When She Left The Royal Family
This would not be a surprise, especially since Meghan Markle has managed to garner more financial independence since her exit in 2020. And with that, there have been opportunities for her and Prince Harry to increase their financial wealth.
Major deals included Prince Harry and Meghan’s collaboration with Spotify, as well as the reported $100 million deal with Netflix.
According to a study conducted by FEMAIL, Meghan Markle spent a total of £58,388 which is £14,000 more than 2020. In addition, that was lots more than Kate Middleton’s sum of £48,000.
While it is an interesting observation nonetheless, the very fact of the matter is that Megan has been criticised for her brand of clothing. This was most notably seen last year when she decided to visit a school in Harlem, New York.
This was part of an attempt to promote Meghan’s book entitled ‘The Bench.’ But given that she arrived at the school wearing expensive clothing, a certain subset of people felt that there was a huge disconnect between the people that Meghan was preaching towards in comparison to her own image.
Critics of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex noted that Kate Middleton would not dress up in expensive posh clothing when visiting poorer people.
There was social media support of Meghan, of course there always be some. Some fans were of the opinion that Meghan had the right to spend as much as she wanted. This was in light of the fact that she earned it.
And given that Meghan was subjected to restrictions on what she could say or do by virtue of being in the Royal family, as are ALL other Royals, now seemed to be the right time for her to enjoy the things that she had accumulated.
Of course given that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spend so much time virtue signalling one might assume Meghan would tone down the super expensive clothing.
One person on Twitter wrote: “What’s up with the BM [British media] and gutter press obsession with Meghan’s clothes and jewelry cost?
“She paid for it. Her jewelry and wardrobe cost the UK taxpayers $0 and 0 cent. Now do Kate.” Meghan’s clothing is ultimately something that only concerns her.
