After WWE’s Day 1 the fans online have pointed out they want one match for WrestleMania and it’s Brock Lesner vs. Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship.
It’s the type of match many have dreamed of, but it appears the WWE has other plans.
Lesnar was only added to the WWE Championship match after Roman Reigns was diagnosed with Covid (we wish Reigns all the best and a fast recovery) and the WWE is trying to rework their feud.
The reworking included changing the outcome of the WWE Championship match as it’s been reported the Big E was supposed to retain the title, and writers were allegedly told this will heighten Lesnar and Reigns’ feud.
Speculated schedule and possible unification
Now that Lesnar is WWE Champion once more, the WWE will reportedly commence building for Lesnar and Reigns to face each other at WrestleMania in a possible reunification match.
There have been reports the WWE has been talking about unifying the WWE and Universal titles for the last year, probably to augment Reigns as being the greatest of all time like they’ve been pushing.
If they do go the unification route, all we can say is about time, and do that with the tag titles and retired either the US of Intercontinental Championship as well.
On the road to that WrestleMania moment will have Lesnar defending the WWE title numerous times, with a rematch with Big E at the Royal Rumble to kick it off.
We’ll get the Lashley and Lesnar match we want but at SuperShowdown. This is a partial win for fans, and Vince will want his dream match at WrestleMania 38 while the fans’ dream is at a lesser pay-per-view.
And assuming the speculation and reports are correct, we’ll get Lesnar and Reigns at WrestleMania where Reigns will win and unify the titles.
Reigns will then brush the current GOAT Chris Jericho aside as this will be pushed as more meaningful and historic than unifying the WCW and WWE championships.
Anything is possible
As we mentioned, this is pure speculation off reports that have been cycling over the internet since Saturday, but it seems likely this scenario will play out unless Reigns is forced to vacate the Universal title for some reason.
Obviously we hope it doesn’t come to that and he makes a full recovery and can return to the ring at peak health.
But this is the WWE and we’re ready for anything to happen. If they follow the lineup that’s been rumored, we’ll get quality matches out of it, just not on the stage the fans would prefer.
What are your thoughts on Lesnar’s projected matchups? What would you change or keep the same?
