Monday Night Raw is just under two hours away at the time of typing, and my preview for the show is… already just about over, assuming they don’t announce more fairly soon. But what we do have for this edition of WWE Raw should be a lot of fun for certain. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, ready to look at the one match that’s on tap for this fine December Monday.
Two weeks ago, we had one of the most enjoyable hours of Raw in years, with a simple contained story taking place. Rey Mysterio battled through a grueling Fatal Four Way match, overcoming Randy Orton, Ricochet and Drew McIntyre to earn a shot at AJ Styles’ WWE United States Championship. But no sooner did Rey come out of one great match was he thrust into another, as that title shot occurred immediately. This too ended up being a fine wrestling spectacle as one might expect from performers of this caliber, and at the end of it all, the legendary luchador ended up with another title victory under his belt – albeit with the help of Randy Orton!
This week, AJ Styles gets his rematch as he goes up against Rey Mysterio for the US title once more!
Without the handicap of Rey having already worked a full-length match, and hopefully with less interference this go-round, this theoretically could top their last encounter without too much difficulty. Of course, assuming there will be no interference is a stretch, given how many players could potentially be involved here. We are just days out from WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 after all, and we still have over half a card’s worth to be announced. In fact we currently don’t know for sure what anyone on Raw will be doing on Sunday – that sure should be changing tonight!
Will Rey survive to defend his US title at TLC? Or will AJ win it back, only to put it on the line against Orton?
