Prince Harry In Legal Fight With UK Over Right To Pay For Police Protection
Lilibet Diana, the Duke’s daughter, was born in June and has not yet met her great-grandmother, the queen, and other royal family members. “The U.K. will always be Prince Harry’s home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in,” the statement said. “With the lack of police protection, comes too great a personal risk.”
Therefore, Prince Harry is pursuing a court review of the Home Office’s rejection to allow him to pay for his own police security while in the UK.
Harry intended to pay for his own police security rather than have the Public purse foot the bill, according to the statement, but he couldn’t unless the Home Office agreed. Prince Harry, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson, “inherited a security risk at birth,” and his family has been subjected to “well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats” in recent years, Other British leaders who have left public service and have intrinsic danger concerns receive free police protection, according to the statement. According to the spokesman, Harry made the decision to make the information public due to a leak in the British tabloid media.
