We’re just a few days away from one of the biggest indie wrestling shows in history. While it’s no All In, Game Changer Wrestling selling out Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City is huge. They’ve built up a massive card, with the main event of Jon Moxley vs. Homicide being huge. However, one title match remains unclear – as The Briscoes don’t know who will challenge them for the GCW Tag Team Championships. Who could these challengers be?
Fans Hope To See FTR Challenge The Briscoes
The biggest hope for fans is that we finally get to see the teased match between FTR & The Briscoes. Ever since FTR showed up at Ring of Honor: Final Battle to stare down The Briscoes, they’ve been trading insults on social media. However, week after week – The Briscoes don’t show up on AEW TV, and FTR never show up to challenge The Briscoes.
Right now, FTR were pulled from the card of AEW Dynamite this week, where they were set to face the team of Brock Anderson & Lee Johnson. The reason is unclear, but could be a sign that one or both members came into contact with someone who had COVID-19. Right now, they’re set to face Rock n’ Roll Express on January 22nd – meaning they will be in New York for the weekend.
Some Other Options
Some other big matches are equally possible. Santana & Ortiz would get an incredible reaction for showing up in GCW, and would bring a chaotic battle to The Briscoes. Their current storyline in AEW is that Chris Jericho has held them back from the AEW World Tag Team Championships, so them showing up to GCW and claiming gold would show this is true.
The OGK have been making their way around the industry, and rivals of The Briscoes. It’s a safe match, as both teams have proven they can steal a show – with their match at Final Battle being damn near perfect. That said, the safe choice is never that exciting – especially when it includes Matt Taven.
