Jay White & Andrade El Idolo are two of the top names in All Elite Wrestling – and tonight, will meet in a first time ever singles meeting.
Both are world travelled champions, and what they have in common is they’re both former IWGP Intercontinental Champions. Tonight, White is backed by Bullet Club Gold – while Andrade’s La Faccion Ingobernable hasn’t been seen on TV in months.
The Numbers Advantage Works Out For Jay White
Both men are undefeated in singles matches on AEW Collision – and Andrade would apply a headlock in the middle of the ring.
White would block the attempt at the Three Amigos Suplexes and yanked the hair of Andrade. Unable to maintain control, White would be set up on the top rope and sent to the floor with a big dropkick.
Bullet Club Gold would ensure White got back into the ring safely, before he caught Andrade with a DDT. Cornering Andrade for chops and shoulder thrusts would follow, with a neckbreaker using the top rope following. Andrade was set up on the apron, and sent crashing to the barricade – where Juice Robinson & The Gunns would verbally mock him.
White would maintain control in the ring, hitting the underhook suplex into the corner. Andrade would get a quick roll up attempt for a one count, but was unable to score the win.
A trade of chops in the middle of the ring would follow, before White was caught with a set of Dragon Screws – setting up the knee for the Figure Eight.
White would be sent to the floor – and Andrade came off the top rope with a perfect moonsault onto all of Bullet Club Gold.
Back in the ring, the double jump moonsault would catch White – but only got Andrade a two count. White would manage a big Uranage, getting a two count – before setting up the Sleeper Suplex.
Andrade would slip out and hit the Hammerlock DDT – but White’s foot was close to the ropes, and Robinson worked fast to get it on the ropes.
White was locked in the Figure Eight – but The Gunns distracted the referee while Robinson got a cheap shot. Blade Runner landed – and this match was over.
FTR Keep Their Championships Ahead Of Aussie Open Challenge
FTR are ready and willing to defend their belts against anyone at any given time. Last week after defeating the Iron Savages – they would have The Workhorsemen step up.
Anthony Henry & JD Drake are just one victory away from finally being taken seriously as a tag team in AEW. Aussie Open are watching this one closely from commentary – as they scout Harwood & Wheeler ahead of their match at WrestleDream.
Henry would begin with Wheeler, sprawling for control – and getting the upper hand. Harwood & Drake would meet in the ring, the heavy hitters of their teams.
Drake hit a massive chop to the chest, giving even Harwood pause after the impact. Harwood chopped back, but was forced into the Workhorsemen corner – where Drake hit a flying senton.
Drake would hit the cannonball senton in the corner – before a diving double stomp from Henry. Wheeler was taken out on the floor with a dive from Henry, before Drake hit a moonsault worthy of the likes of Vader – but only got a two count.
The crowd had no clue how Harwood survived, and a powerbomb counter to a diving legdrop and the Sharpshooter would win FTR the match.
Aussie Open would applaud – and know that next Sunday at WrestleDream, the AEW World Tag Team Championships are on the line.
They would admit that they haven’t met the hype yet in AEW, but Harwood wants them to bring their best. If they don’t intend to do that, just stay home – or be embarrassed. Who will leave Seattle as champions? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
