At Wrestle Kingdom 16, we saw the full return of The Rainmaker. Three nights of action all ended the same, with someone being crushed by Kazuchika Okada – with Shingo Takagi, Will Ospreay, and Kaito Kiyomiya all falling. Tetsuya Naito is next in line for a shot, and many expect that match to end the same. However, Okada is almost looking past Naito – and towards potential first time opponents from the United States.
Kazuchika Okada Likes To Give Fans Wild Dream Matches
While being interviewed on Wrestling Observer Radio, Okada would explain why he feels having some wild dreams is important in an industry like professional wrestling. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, that mindset is more important than ever. Okada had the following to say about this.
“So, I mean, really, we can’t possibly say it at the moment and everything is so up in the air and sometimes putting these situations out they might just end as dream matches and everybody’s got a limited number of days left. But it’s because we’re in the situation that we’re in that these dream matches become more important to all of us as fans, to give something to imagine and speculate and look forward to.
So, who knows, it might be Bryan Danielson, it might be CM Punk, it might be Triple H, or it might be Shinsuke Nakamura. It might be all of these different situations. Now we’re in this situation we’re in as a planet and as a society it’s more important than ever to have these crazy speculations and wild dreams of things we can do.”
On Paper, Triple H Would Be A Great Opponent For Okada
While the hope of seeing Okada vs. Danielson is very strong, it’d be very unlikely to see Triple H step through the Forbidden Door like this. That would be one of the biggest stories of the year – especially after his recent heart issues. It’s not expected that Triple H will ever step into the ring again, but with an industry like professional wrestling? You can never be sure.
The Rainmaker vs. The King of Kings would be a clash for the ages. Triple H always liked to work epic matches, taking a lot of inspiration from Ric Flair. This is a similar pace to matches that Okada favours, with his big matches often passing the 30 minute mark. Both men also tend to use simple moves, but used to perfection. On paper, this is a match that would work – and be just as weird to see as Chris Jericho vs. Kazuchika Okada.
