On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, an announcement was made, one that’s confirmed something that’s been on everyone’s lips for some time to come. Ever since AEW Full Gear last month, the question has been when and where will the next All Elite Wrestling pay-per-view take place? Now, we have an answer to both questions.
The show has a name, a date, a venue and even a tie-in…
AEW Revolution comes to downtown Chicago on February 29th.
The term “AEW Revolution” was trademarked some time ago, and so speculation was quickly kicked up that it may well be the name of a pay-per-view or perhaps a video game – one has been in the works to some degree for several months already – so the name itself is no real surprise.
It’s been quite apparent that AEW have been wanting to make a real home base of sorts out of Chicago, citing back to All In – AEW’s spiritual predecessor event – taking place there in September of last year. They held the sequel event of sorts, All Out on August 31st. Then, just a few weeks ago, AEW Dynamite came to Chicago as well.
But of course these events were all in Rosement, Illinois on the outskirts of Chicago, just kinda called Chicago for convenience. This show will actually be taking place within the city limits.
February 29th is a funny date, given that it’s not one that we’ll have every year. They saw a chance to hold a show on Leap Day, and they took it! This event will also coincide with C2E2, a major fan convention for all sorts of pop culture. AEW will be a part of this convention themselves this year, promising to be majorly involved in the proceedings themselves.
Many names are advertised for the event per the press release, none too surprising. They include: AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, Women’s champion Riho, Jon Moxley, Cody, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Nyla Rose and Britt Baker.
