The growing wrestling promotion AEW (All Elite Wrestling) just announced what should be two exciting shows for their weekly TV program, AEW Dynamite.
On January 15th, in Miami, Florida Dynamite has gotten just a little bit bigger now as the event will be officially dubbed Bash At The Beach, a name WCW fans know very well. The following week will be making history, as Dynamite will air live from Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, a cruise event which combines wrestling, rock music, and of course a cruise.
Bash At The Beach
The Bash At The Beach name is one that old school wrestling fans have much nostalgia for, being WCW (World Championship Wrestlings) event of choice for the month of July from 1994 to 2000. In 1995 it was aired directly from a sand covered beach in Huntington Beach, California with the main event of Hulk Hogan vs. Vader in a Steel Cage match for the WCW Heavyweight Championship.
It was usually done from an arena however, with a stage laid out with sand, surfboards, and other beach related propaganda. That is what we should expect from AEW, especially as it is happening in January, and I’m sure even Florida gets a bit chilly that time of year.
AEW Goes Nautical
But if you want a unique presentation for AEW, look no further than the next week when they fit international waters and air live from a cruise ship. Last year, Jericho paired with Ring Of Honor to provide the wrestling for his cruise, with the main event of the two day event being the Bullet Club Trio of Kenny Omega, Cody, & Marty Scrull taking on Chris Jericho & The Young Bucks, who called themselves Alpha Club.
There was also a huge Sea Of Honor tournament which saw Flip Gordan defeat Jay Briscoe in the finals to earn a ROH Title opportunity. It was a very fun event, and I’m sure AEW will provide just as much entertainment as Ring Of Honor was able to. The most notable moment of the show was when a bird dive-bombed a member of the audience, causing commentator Colt Cabana to start laughing uncontrollably for several minutes.
With the fun atmosphere of a cruise and the excitement of AEW, it will be an episode to not miss. No matches are announced for either show at this time, but we will keep you informed on any news that follows on these events.
