Wednesday means wrestling! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here gearing up for another episode of AEW Dynamite coming up soon! Hour and a half away from air time as I type this and I better get going on this preview because they’ve been kind enough to give me a whole lot of advertised segments to talk about, matches and promos alike! Eight, by my count! To go from Raw and SmackDown barely giving me two every week to knowing eight things that will definitely be on Dynamite tonight, it’s pretty crazy honestly.
For our first match on the men’s side here, we have a growing grudge in our midst.
Rey Fenix vs. Trent
The Best Friends and the Lucha Bros seem to have a rivalry brewing. Trent defeated Pentagon Jr. on an episode of AEW Dark last week, something that was seen as a bit of an upset. The next night, The Best Friends and Lucha Bros squared off in tag team action, with Trent pinning the other half of the popular luchador tandem, Rey Fenix!
Not content to let this slide, the Lucha Bros seem hellbent on getting theirs back on the Best Friends and Trent specifically. Thus this match has been made. Fenix is considered by some to be among the very best wrestlers in the world, and is certainly among the top competitors to work his style, perhaps the top high flier in the game today which is saying something. Trent is a man that many consider extremely underrated as a performer, and while his opportunities to shine as a solo act have been few and far between, he’s always risen to the occasion when they come. Most recently he showed out in a damn good TV match with PAC.
Fenix is getting more accustomed to singles action, having gotten the win over Nick Jackson in a much acclaimed match a couple of weeks ago. I expect more of the same here. But given the story that seems to be unfolding here, I think the Lucha Bros might find their frustrations continuing to boil. Trent does it again.
