Another episode of AEW Dynamite is soon upon us folks! All Elite Wrestling is coming at us again on this, the most magical day of the week every week, and I for one am ecstatic for another edition of the Wednesday Night Wars! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, here to cap off the night’s previews with what I’m kind of assuming is going to be the main event here. We got ten minutes ’til show time here, so let’s get to it!
AEW World Tag Team Championships: SCU (c) vs. The Young Bucks
Closing out the year with a big title match here, as the Young Bucks challenge Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian of SCU for the AEW World Tag Team Titles! Goes without saying these are two of the companies’ biggest teams. They also know each other very well, as SCU have been around the brothers’ Jackson for quite a while, and in fact the Bucks actually picked out the name SoCal Uncensored years ago!
This should be an absolute classic, no doubt about that. But who will win? I keep thinking that SCU have really just won those titles and shouldn’t be losing them yet. I also keep thinking that Proud-N-Powerful will end up being the next tag champs some time down the line, even last week when I picked the Bucks to beat Santana & Ortiz to get this match, that was the long-term thinking.
Still… it does give me some pause now that we’re here and I’m thinking deeper about it. Last AEW Dynamite of the year, therefore if it headlines it’s the last AEW match of the year. And it being a title match in which the most celebrated team in modern professional wrestling are the challengers… well, it’s hardly an unfitting occasion for the Bucks to take those tag titles. It’s a foregone conclusion they’ll hold them at some point, right? Still… just can’t help but think that SCU will retain until further notice.
