Wednesday means wrestling! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here gearing up for another episode of AEW Dynamite coming up soon and only getting closer! It’s now just a short ten minutes away from air time as I type this and I better get going on this preview because they’ve been kind enough to give me a whole lot of advertised segments to talk about, matches and promos alike! Eight, by my count! To go from Raw and SmackDown barely giving me two every week to knowing eight things that will definitely be on Dynamite tonight, it’s pretty crazy honestly.
Tonight, we see a rematch from one of the three brutal Lights Out matches AEW have offered thus far, but this time it takes place in the form of a sanctioned bout.
Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela
Janela has been something of an in-between man in the major league feud that’s gone on this year between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega. After Moxley went toe-to-toe with him in an Unsanctioned match at Fyter Fest and seemed to take the King of the Deathmatch crown back from him, Kenny felt the need to do the same thing. In preparation for his own brutal Unsanctioned match with Moxley, Kenny had the very same kind of match with Joey Janela on the second edition of AEW Dark, as a means to get himself prepared.
Though Kenny won that match, Janela impressed enough to get a shot at taking on Kenny once more, this time in a regular singles match on AEW Dynamite. Kenny won again but Janela once more proved that he has a lot going for him as a competitor, sanctioned or no. Now, it seems we’ve come full circle as Jon Moxley will be tested against Janela in a sanctioned bout this time around.
One has to think Joey’s getting a little sick of being overshadowed by these two’s bloodfeud, but is tonight the night he finally scores that big win? My guess is no, but I do think before too long we’ll see Janela rise up the ranks. For tonight though, Jon Moxley prevails.
