All Elite Wrestling brings us another episode of AEW Dynamite tonight! It’s a special one known as AEW Homecoming, named such for their return to one of their closest home bases, the city of Jacksonville! The site of Fight For The Fallen and the inaugural Double or Nothing rally, it was set to be a huge show to be sure! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the live results from the show as it occurs, and as it so happens, the show is occurring right now! So let’s get into the results!
AEW World Women’s Champion Riho was originally scheduled to defend her title in a one on one match with Kris Statlander. But due to scheduling conflicts, that match was instead moved to next week, and in it’s place, the champ had to defend against the rest of the women’s division’s Top 5 all at once instead! Nyla Rose, Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida have all been defeated by Riho in the past but tonight gave them all a unique opportunity at redemption!
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Shida lifts Britt above her head for a big backbreaker, Nyla picks her up from the cover for a deadlift German Suplex! Effortless body slam on Riho, she stacks Riho onto Shida! Nyla up top now with a leap! Senton, both women move out of the way and she crashes and burns with a pained scream! Shida’s running knee misses but Riho’s Metoera nails flush! Hikaru breaks up the pin, Falcon Arrow on Nyla Rose, baaaaaaaarely kicks out! Close enough for the crowd to argue it! Britt tries to get Hikaru into Lockjaw, countered into an Oklahoma Roll, Riho pulls Britt out of it into a Sunset Flip/Jackknife Cover for the flash win!
Winner: Riho
As expected, it was a wild affair with everyone coming very close to taking that AEW World Women’s title, but in the end it was Riho who came out on top once more! But Nyla Rose was not pleased with this, and afterward, put her through a table with a destructive frog splash! This puts Riho in real jeopardy for her one on one title defense against Kris Statlander next week!
