Jon Moxley had a very successful time in his Tokyo Dome debut. He beat Lance Archer to win back the IWGP United States championship, and then retained on Night Two against Juice Robinson.
Following that match, he would come face to face with the most violent force in NJPW, Minoru Suzuki. Suzuki would lay out Moxley with a Gotch Style Piledriver, and his message was clear: he was here to fight.
The Clash At New Years Dash
Hostilities would continue at New Years Dash, when Moxley would bring the fight back to Suzuki after laying him out with his Death Rider DDT. Many had assumed that Moxley had left the country to return home to America, making his appearance all the more surprising. Moxley said “Looks like unfinished business” as he addressed the crowd following this beatdown. Suzuki was not phased though, after crawling back up the ramp he simply laughed at his newest victim. In a backstage interview, Suzuki had this to say “Jon Moxley? Nah… Jonny Boy. You better be ready when you come at me. I will absolutely kill you!”
Minoru Suzuki Is Unlike Anything Else Jon Moxley Has Faced
Jon Moxley might be a violent force, but Minoru Suzuki is another beast entirely. A veteran of professional wrestling and one of the first men to compete in mixed martial arts, even at 50 years old he is one of the scariest people to stand across from in the ring. Moxley did not run into Suzuki during his time in the G1 Climax, as Suzuki was left out of the tournament to open up spaces for fresh faces like KENTA, Shingo Takagi, Will Ospreay & Moxley himself.
Fans have been clamoring to see Moxley & Suzuki face off, as both men wrestle an incredibly brutal style in their own way. Their eventual clash will be amongst the hardest hitting we will see in 2020, especially if they are allowed to have it be a No Holds Barred affair.
Could It Happen In AEW As Well?
Minoru Suzuki was rumored to have been leaving NJPW following this years Wrestle Kingdom, so it’s likely he could be finishing up with Moxley being his final feud before he is removed as leader of Suzuki-Gun and returns to being a freelancer. They could start their feud in NJPW, and it could branch out into AEW if this occurs. Suzuki is respected around the world, so the AEW faithful would welcome his presence overseas.
