Wednesday has come to us, and with it, the best day of any given wrestling week! Tonight, we have a ridiculously big eight man tag team match as Kenny Omega, Hangman Page and the Young Bucks go up against the Lucha Bros, the Butcher & the Blade! AEW Dynamite is rolling in very soon, just an hour away as I type this. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’ll give you the same coverage you’ve come to expect as always! Recap and results from the show, moments after a segment closes! Plus, a preview of everything we can come to expect. We’re most of the way there now so let’s get to this crazy match right here!
Kenny Omega, Hangman Page & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. The Butcher, The Blade and The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix)
Right, so that’s a bit of a mouthful! Well, to start with here, to the surprise of many, myself included, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page defeated SCU to take the AEW World Tag Team titles a couple weeks back. And Hangman quickly took to rubbing this win in the faces of the Young Bucks with passive aggressive reminders that they haven’t won them yet, constantly noting how surprising and strange that is. It’s a funny little believable bit of tension between the two tandems. I am personally of the belief that we’re heading towards a big showdown between them sooner than later, perhaps even at AEW Revolution!
On the other side, we have two teams that are established foes of the Young Bucks. After Matt and Nick threw MJF into a pool at the JeriCruise, The Butcher & The Blade’s furious boss was quick to sicc them on the brothers Jackson. Matt and Nick got a win over them last week, only for the mercenary team to attack them afterwards, as their true goal was injuring them anyway. Kenny and Page came to their rescue and then a challenge for an eight man tag was made, where the Butcher & the Blade got to pick their partners.
They chose Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr., reasonable as they have very much proven their ability to defeat the Young Bucks! Altogether, this should be a truly crazy match. But considering where I expect things to go, the Elite have to pull out the win here.
