AEW Dynamite is on tonight! In these trying times, I think we could all use the escape so let’s see how they handle this rough spot. I choose to have faith. On this show, we will be seeing the next step in the burgeoning feud between the Death Triangle and the Best Friends, when the Lucha Bros take on Trent Baretta and Chuck Taylor! I am Jordan Huie, you are here with us at the Overtimer and hopefully you’re all staying safe and sound. You can expect the same kind of coverage as per usual, with live recaps and results from the show as they come, plus previews of everything that’s on tap for tonight!
Of course AEW comes to us from the Daily’s Place, and it’s gonna be an empty arena show, their first attempt at this. It sounds as if they’re going to attempt to put on the same level of show as usual, tough as that’s gonna be.
Lucha Bros vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta)
As far as I can tell, this is the only match that’s been altered from what was originally advertised. If I recall correctly this was initially set to be a Trios match pitting the entire Death Triangle against all three of the Best Friends. But amidst everything that’s going on, it was changed to a tag team match, with PAC being noticeably removed from the graphic.
Initially I assumed that he simply wasn’t going to be able to make the show in light of the ongoing travel ban. But his name is actually still on the graphic. They took the time to change it to say “w/ PAC”. So unless somebody messed up here and they never ended up correcting it, it seems he will actually be appearing. In which case the change probably has more to do with the fact that having Orange Cassidy wrestle without fans would be an immense mistake. And if that’s the thought process than I certainly agree with it. It just wouldn’t be remotely the same if thousands of people weren’t there to go nuts every time he makes the slightest move.
With that said, we still have a promising new faction here in the Death Triangle and they’ll surely want to establish them strongly. So I’m picking Lucha Bros to win this one.
