AEW Dynamite rolls on and we have a video looking at the path of destruction carved out by AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose, as well as detailing the other big stars of the division, Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and interestingly Penelope Ford. Kinda seems like it’s suggesting a triple threat to determine the No. 1 Contender to me. But for now, we have the official return of Nyla Rose herself as she comes for a one-on-one against a hapless jobber. On her way out Tony Schiavone is here to interview her. Nyla asks who he thinks the most dominant force is but cuts him off to say he’s wrong, it’s her, it will be her and it will always be her. Demands he shut up and do his job and she’ll do hers. Britt Baker is unimpressed in the crowd. Hikaru Shida, Penelope Ford and Kris Statlander are all at ringside as well. Finally Nyla enters the ring against Kenzie Paige.
AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose vs. Kenzie Paige (Non-Title)
Nyla with a knee to the gut, clubbering blow to the back. Biel toss sends her across the ring! Chokes Kenzie against the bottom rope. Nyla with shoulder thrusts, Kenzie escapes, sunset flip but Nyla stands her ground. Pulls her up to her feet, Kenzie with a forearm but there’s no effect. Nyla just wayleys her, German Suplex slams her down hard! Nyla leaps to the top rope, and there’s a big Senton Bomb! Cover, pulls Kenzie up to keep the match going. Pulls Paige to her feet and hoists her up for a Throw-Down Powerbomb! Pulls her up by the hair even as Kenzie struggles, another Powerbomb and then a Beast Bomb to finish! That is that!
Winner: Nyla Rose
Seems like she’s only gotten sharper in the layoff. I did kinda miss having her around and it’s important that she keep getting mic time as there’s definitely potential for her to be a much better one than she is now.
This segment was a pretty cool little highlight of some of the division’s stronger workers and what’s fun is that they did so without looking at some key ones like Riho and Yuka Sakazaki, since they’re still being held back by the travel ban it seems. The division is probably deeper than many would give it credit for.
