With the events going on following the death of George Floyd, many wrestlers have gone to social media to voice their options on the outcome. Many have been supportive such Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who took to Instagram to tell U.S President Donald Trump to know his role.
The Rock Believes The U.S Will Experience Change After Hitting Rock Bottom
In the 8-minutes and 25-seconds video, he discusses the need for the country to listen and to heal. Also important from the video was him explaining what the country is supposed to mean and do for its People. All of this was to tell President Trump what his job is and how he’s falling short of it.
His post on Instagram featured a semi-transcript from his video which and states:
“Our country is crippled and on its knees, begging to be heard and pleading for change.
Where is our compassionate leader?
The leader who unifies and inspires our country at our most painful time when we need it the most.
The leader who steps up and takes full accountability for our country and embraces every color in it.
The leader who picks our country up off its knees and says you have my word – we got this – and together, change will happen.
Where are you?
Because we’re all here.
Maybe one day that galvanizing leader will emerge.
Either way, the process to change has already begun.

Impressions
Compared to how impassioned and how hard Kevin Nash has been dealing with people against the protests, this came off as a mild smackdown. Still, it was a smackdown. The Rock had time to process things while Nash, Owens, Ali, Zayn, Storm, Waltman, and other wrestlers took to social media at the onset. He had time to collect his thoughts before getting into it.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. While his video didn’t have the rawness of the moment that most had or the shock factor I got from Randy Orton—of all people—posting “#BlackLivesMatter” and explaining how he came to it—I can say he didn’t fumble the ball like Chris Jericho did. Nor did he blow the whole game from a lead as Jaxson Ryker did.
The Rock’s video—hell, you could call it a speech—had a powerful message. He used his strongest gift, his ability in front of a camera and on a mic, to talk to the President and the country about what’s going on, what’s to be expected of a leader and even gave viewers hope going forward.
Honestly, he could’ve ended with “That’s why I’m announcing that I’ll be running for President of the United States in November.” That’s how the video came off towards the end.
