MJF is doing great these days in AEW. Sure, he failed to win the AEW World Championship because Jon Moxley is a good for nothing cheat, but he followed that up by beating a legend in Chris Jericho. Now he has the backing of The Inner Circle, but has to defend his greatest prize.
One year ago, he won the Dynamite Diamond Ring by beating Hangman Page. Now, after making the finals of the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale again, he defends his ring in the ring against Orange Cassidy, who barely even wants the ring!
MJF Shows His Mean Streak
MJF took the cheap shot, took OC down and broke his sunglasses. A crisp suplex and a one count, before MJF hit another. He didn’t want to let OC get moving, and go for a few more pinfalls. OC threw his shirt at MJF, who caught it and strangled him.
MJF went for another suplex, and got hit with Stundog Millionaire. OC went after MJF on the apron, looking for Orange Punch, but he punched the ring apron. MJF put OC’s hands in his back pocket, and powerbombed him on the apron.
OC would have his fingers bent in the turnbuckle, and MJF wanted that Orange Punch gone, but still only got a one count. MJF applied the submission on the hand, and OC fought to the corner to break it. He’d trip MJF and run into a flapjack, his hand stomped and body dropped after a running back elbow.
As we went to a commercial break, OC was run into a steel post by Guevara and fed into the ring for MJF to beat him down throughout.
Best Friends Got Orange Cassidy The Backup He Needed
Coming back from the break, things were dire for OC. He’d fire up, and Best Friends called in backup. OC hit a short shotgun dropkick, diving crossbody and swinging DDT. The diving DDT got a two count, and OC would go for the Orange Punch but got the corner. MJF went for the Salt of The Earth, but OC fought out.
He’d be whipped into the far corner and hit with a double underhook shoulder breaker into a Tiger Driver for two. MJF looked for the Heatseeker, OC sent him outside and hit the big dive. When he was getting back in, MJF nailed the heatseeker, but Best Friends pushed his legs off the ropes.
MJF went for the Guerrero tease spot with Jericho’s bat, but OC put his hands in his pockets and fell to the ground. The referee couldn’t call something he didn’t see, but OC nailed Beach Break on MJF. This got two, MJF went for Salt of The Earth, but OC rolled out. OC nailed Orange Punch with the hurt hand and got two another Orange Punch, and Wardlow got MJF’s foot on the rope.
A brawl broke out, Miro appeared and took out OC in the ring, and MJF pinned for the win. The show went off the air with a big brawl, something which will keep going next week with a 14 man tag.
