There have been some fantastic books published in 2021, but MOX by Jon Moxley stands out above all else. It’s a unique and deeply personal novel, recounting his life. You can’t read it and not mentally hear every line as he would say it. It was truly the story he wanted to tell. This was not the case with Bryan Danielson and his book, Yes!: My Improbable Journey to the Main Event of WrestleMania – as per Moxley in a recent interview.

Bryan Danielson Wasn’t 100% Happy With His Book

While considering writing his own book, Moxley was speaking with others who have written their own book. WWE has had many write their own books, including the then Daniel Bryan. His book is considered to be one of the best to come out of WWE, something I can confirm based on the amount of times I’ve read my copy since 2015.

However, despite it being good – Bryan was not happy with the end result, and let Moxley know about this when asked by WWE to put out a book during his time there. This offer was turned down based on the advice of Bryan, as revealed by the following quote from a recent appearance on Talk is Jericho.

“I remember I actually asked Bryan Danielson, who’d written a WWE book, which was good, I thought. And I was like, ‘Yo, if you could go back in time, would you do that book?’ And he said no instantly. He’s like, ‘It wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to be,’ and I was like, that’s all I needed to hear. That’s what my instinct was telling me, so I told them no, and they’re like, ‘Really?’ And there was a lot of money on the table, but I was just like, ‘No, it makes me feel really uncomfortable. I don’t want to do it, so I’m not doing it.’ And that was it.”

Jon Moxley Needed Tech Support From His Wife While Writing His Book

When it came to writing his book, Moxley had one of his most heated battles in his life. Moxley is not someone who enjoys working with technology, especially not something as advanced as a MacBook. He barely knew how to work it, as he would reveal in the following hilarious quote.

“I wrote the whole thing on a Notes app on my wife’s MacBook, which I can’t operate at all,” Moxley admitted. “If I’m gonna be on a computer, I need to be on a ’90s computer with a mouse, like from computer lab. This MacBook, I literally couldn’t operate one function of this thing except the Notes app because I could just type it, and press the button, and send it on my email. So anytime something weird would pop up, I would have to be like, ‘Renee! I don’t know how to fix this!’ She would come down, fix it for me. It was written on a Notes app. It’s as dirty as can be.”

Hopefully if Moxley writes another book? Someone can help him get a nice vintage PC to work from to prevent such issues. There is a large collection of people who are always looking to preserve old technology, and I’m sure there’s an old  yellowed IBM PC sitting around somewhere collecting dust that would be perfect for Moxley.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
