Last night on Monday Night RAW, it was revealed that Asuka didn’t win a shot at the RAW Women’s Championship during the Money In The Bank ladder match. She grabbed the briefcase, but instead of a contract being inside, Becky Lynch had secretly arranged with management for the RAW Women’s Championship to be placed inside instead. This was due to Becky Lynch taking time off due to being pregnant, forcing her to relinquish the championship. The result was a touching moment, as Asuka had no idea this was planned to happen, giving some genuine reactions; a rarity in wrestling.
Asuka technically winning both a Money In The Bank ladder match and the RAW Women’s Championship has put her in a category all of her own.
Asuka Has Won Everything There Is For Her To Win In WWE
With those two accomplishments now on the resume of Asuka, she has done something that no one else has been able to do. She has now won the NXT Women’s Championship, Smackdown Women’s Championship, Royal Rumble, Women’s Tag Team Championships with Kairi Sane, Money In The Bank, and the RAW Women’s Championship. The only things she has not won are the Mae Young Classic and NXT UK Women’s Championship, both of which she is unable to achieve.
Who Else In WWE Is Close To This Goal?
There are a few women who will be able to soon make similar history. For example, Bayley would only need to win a Royal Rumble, Sasha Banks would need to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship, Money In The Bank and Royal Rumble, and Charlotte Flair would only need to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Becky Lynch would need to win the NXT Women’s Championship, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships and Money In The Bank upon her return.
Asuka was able to achieve all these goals before the highly lauded Four Horsewomen of NXT, which is an accomplishment in it’s own right. Sasha Banks is likely to be the next Grand Slam winner in WWE, as she is on a path that ends with her taking the Smackdown Women’s Championship from Bayley.
