It’s going to be strange watching AEW and not seeing Cody or Brandi Rhodes there anymore. As two of the originals of the company and architects, they were instrumental in building it into what it’s become, and now it looks like they’re officially leaving.
Tony Kahn announced on AEW’s website and social media that Cody and Brandi were “moving on” from AEW and he thanked them for their contributions and listed some of the contributions they made to AEW and beyond.
While this is surprising, it probably shouldn’t be given reports that Cody and the other EVPs weren’t having as big a say as they initially had and Tony saying recently he wouldn’t be able to renew all the contracts.
Of course, this could also be Cody and Brandi’s decision to move on to other challenges. There are plenty of options for them, and one of those could be the WWE.

WWE thinks they have a chance
On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the possibility of the 3 time AEW TNT Champion going to WWE. Special thanks to @the_wrestling_news2 for the transcript.
“He has not signed [with AEW], and in WWE, they thought that there was a good chance, or a chance, something. It was definitely something that was talked about today in certain circles – about the potential of something happening there.”
This is a curious thought given how they were both previously there, with Brandi’s career beginning in the WWE, so a return is possible even if it seems unlikely to fans.
It wouldn’t be unheard of as others may look to the WWE to continue their careers after their time in AEW is over.
Recouping losses
It’d be the WWE’s chance to recoup some of their losses as both Cody and Brandi have shown the WWE was shortsighted in hos they handled them, but Vince McMahon would have to see a way to make money with them to sign them.
Of course, this is all speculation as Meltzer said is was allegedly talked about in some circles, and if true, we think it’ll depend largely on what Cody and Brandi want.
They could set out to create their own company or look to purchase a small one and see what they can build it into.
One thing is certain, they’re not done with the family legacy yet and we wish them the best of luck going forward.
