Right now, the AEW roster gets stronger by the week. Last night on AEW Dynamite, Kyle O’Reilly made his debut – following his exit from WWE NXT just a week ago. This is another top talent, and others like Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano, and Shane Strickland could be on their way. Some are arguing that the AEW roster is getting bloated – but Eddie Kingston feels much differently.
Eddie Kingston Wants Everyone To Step Their Game Up
While speaking with Alex McCarthy of TALKSport, Eddie Kingston would say that he loves the constant flow of talent – as it forces everyone to step their game up.
“No you can’t have too many top talents, because it makes everybody else step up. And if you don’t step up, you get left behind and that’s your fault. That’s not Punk’s fault. That’s not Bryan’s fault. That not whoever comes in fault. If you’re worried about the roster getting bloated or you’re worried about said ‘spot’ – as I put in quotations – then work on it and use it as motivation. I do.”
This is the way to look at things. If you get too comfortable in wrestling, you stop giving your best. Some people will be fine with being at the bottom of the card, but most people enter wrestling with the intent on being the top name in a company. We’ve seen names like Joey Janela understand this, knowing he has to step up in a big way if he wants AEW to renew his contract in 2022.
Kingston Is Doing Some Of His Best Work As He Steps His Game Up
Eddie Kingston is one of those people who is always pushing hard in every single match — notable with his stretch of great single matches against the likes of Bryan Danielson, CM Punk & Daniel Garcia.
Kingston doesn’t get comfortable, and that keeps him on TV. From the same interview, he would note that he quit smoking, worked on his cardio, and dieting more, all in the name of steeping his game up.
