One of the perks of Evolve being a WWE affliated company is you will see NXT talent show up. However, this has left some huge matches never seen by the wider public. One of these came from Evolve 113 in 2018 when fans got a main event match between Darby Allin & Velveteen Dream. Until now, this match despite being taped has stayed unseen, but Evolve has shared it to their YouTube channel.
A Crossbrand Clash Of Future Stars Of NXT & AEW
With this match happening in 2018, both men were still on their rise to prominence. Darby Allin had yet to get his breakout role, and instead was working the indies to get his name out there. This would of course lead him to joining AEW upon their formation, where he has become a main event level star. Velveteen Dream on the other hand, was already on the rise in WWE NXT. He had his breakout moment with his now iconic feud with Aleister Black, and was just a few short months from facing Tomassao Ciampa for the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover WarGames II.
Both still have their best days ahead of them, with Darby having captured the hearts of AEW fans with his daredevil attitudes. Velveteen Dream is set to take the NXT Championship from Adam Cole in their next encounter as well, the biggest match of his career.
Darby Allin Has Blasted Evolve Since Joining AEW
While Evolve was the company which really helped to get the name Darby Allin out there, he does not look back fondly on his time there. He has blasted the company in interviews, claiming that there’s an attitude that you should just be happy to be there cause of the WWE association. Darby also claims his pay was so low, that he was living out of his car during his time with the company. Because of these comments, it is odd to see the company promoting his time in the company.
We can expect more content like this to be posted by companies during these uncertain times. The goal of this video seems to be to raise awareness about the free month of WWN Live to give fans something to watch while everyone is cooped up with the Coronavirus scare. We can only hope that Velveteen Dream vs. Orange Cassidy is released next, as fans have been eager to see that one.
