One of the surprise signings a few months back was Frankie Kazarian with Impact Wrestling. The surprise factor came because many of us thought he was still with AEW.

But as is often the case, his time with the company ran its course and he wanted to go elsewhere.

Frankie Kazarian Explains he Left AEW Over Difference of Opinion

This is usually where one side or the other shares glowing or ill feelings toward the other, but that’s not the case in this situation.

In Kaz’s case, it was mainly over a difference of opinion or idea of what he preferred wrestling to be compared to AEW’s.

    Since the beginning

Kaz appeared on The Kurt Angle Show recently and the two talked about a range of topics from working together in TNA and Kaz’s time in AEW.

When it came to AEW, Kaz explained why he left AEW despite two years left on his contract. Special thanks to wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.

“When I left last year, I still had two years left on my contract when I left. I made the decision to leave. I still had two years left. I probably could have been there much longer. I re-signed at the end of 2021 and hindsight being what it is, I probably shouldn’t have, but again, AEW, I was there since before day one. I was there when this was a germ of an idea. I was there discussing this company when they didn’t even have initials attached to them in these rooms with Cody and The Bucks and Page and Sky and C.D. So again, I was committed. I was like I want to try to, you know, ride this thing out.”

He explained that things in AEW that weren’t being done simply didn’t line up with what he likes about pro wrestling.

“It just became apparent to me that what I like and what I appreciate about pro wrestling and the way I like it presented was not happening at AEW, and that’s not an indictment of them. It’s just what they perceive as good television wrestling and what I do are different things, and just the business model, everything.”

    Returning home

Now that he’s back in Impact Wrestling, Kaz has been making an impact as he’s been instrumental in several important storylines and continues to perform at a high level.

As an Impact Wrestling/TNA original, he’s a fan favorite and it adds so much more to what he can do with the company and it only adds to his legacy and the fans’ enjoyment of seeing him back home.

What do you think about his reasons for leaving AEW? Did he do the right thing? Let us know in the comments below.
