Queen Elizabeth II has reportedly been advised to give up drinking for the sake of her health.
Queen Elizabeth II Has Been Advised To Give Up Alcohol
The Queen, for her part, is not getting any younger, given that she is 95-years-old. And following the passing of Prince Philip, it is more important than ever for her to look after her health.
With the onset of her Platinum Jubilee, which is set to go ahead next year, it is vital that the Queen is in the best possible condition to mark her 70-year reign.
A source told Vanity Fair the following: “The alcohol has gone. Her doctors want to make sure she is as fit and healthy as possible.”
This is not to say that the Queen will never drink again, but rather, it has been advised that she only drinks on special occasions. This begs the question: are there any other concerns with the Queen’s health?
As of now, there is nothing new that way. But given that there has been so much scrutiny on the Royal family due to the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been so critical of the monarchy, the Queen needs as few concerns as possible.
Another source remarked: “The Queen has been told to give up her evening drink which is usually a martini. It’s not really a big deal for her.
“She is not a big drinker, but it seems a trifle unfair that at this stage in her life, she’s having to give up one of very few pleasures.”
Nevertheless, a senior doctor by the name of Martin Scurr, has suggested that drinking at this age is unlikely to make the Queen feel better. Therefore, it was something that she decided to do rather than it being a strict requirement.
His following comments confirmed as much: “I don’t think if you only have one, two or even three units a day at the age of 95, it would make any difference to your health-giving up. It could be a personal decision.”
Giving up drinking is probably not going to be the biggest hurdle that the Queen has to contend with, but it will make her life better nonetheless.
