Sanada and Jay White began their program at New Year Dash following the two-night success which was Wrestle Kingdom 14. ‘Switchblade’ Jay White avenged his tag team pinfall loss to Sanada at New Year Dash during night-one of The New Beginning in Sapporo — with help from Gedo.
Their match during The New Beginning in Osaka told a story of Sanada’s athleticism and slick llave chain wrestling against Jay White and Gedo’s cerebral mind games. Despite being at a numbers disadvantage, Sanada was able to get the upper hand over White throughout the majority of the contest.
While both have their critics, it’s difficult to argue that this match didn’t accomplish everything it set out to do. Sanada is positioned for another surprise run in the New Japan Cup, while Jay White remains a conveying pure heel. Bullet Club also remains as antagonists against the top drawing faces within New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).
Jay White defeated Sanada in 21 minutes and 52 seconds after the Blade Runner and outside interference from Gedo. With 2020 losses to Zack Sabre Junior at Wrestle Kingdom 14, and to Jay White at The New Beginning in Osaka — Sanada is positioned for another surprise run during the New Japan Cup.
It’s not out of the question that he and Jay White could meet during the upcoming single-elimination tournament in March. Both Sanada and White are likely to be heavily featured in drawing positions in 2020.
