With the news of Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of the WWE while Raw was live spreads, so are the fans calling for them to go to AEW.
It’s nothing new as every time there’s a WWE release or someone quits fans immediately call for them to go so AEW.
The problem with that is AEW’s roster is bloated as WWE’s was and they’re already having trouble getting everyone on TV, but Banks would be the exception to the rule.
She’s one of the best in the world and her fanbase is as loyal as they come and would probably follow her to AEW.
She’d be a huge coup for AEW just as Cody has been for the WWE.
Ratings boon
AEW has been struggling with ratings as they’ve been accused of focusing on their base fans, and Banks would give them a boost like CM Punk did, and the trick would then be to keep their focus.
While Banks would lift their women’s division to new heights, there’s been plenty of criticism for the way Tony Kahn books his shows, and it could be interesting to see what he has in mind for Banks.
On the plus side, he reportedly is open to everyone’s ideas before making his final decision, but it sounds like Tony is more open than Vince and AEW isn’t done for his sole entertainment.
One thing we think would be for certain is it’d be foolish to not plug Banks into the title picture in some way.
It may ruffle some feather at her coming in and leaping over everyone, but she could still earn her place with a series of wins to climb the ranks.
Banks would quickly become a good locker room leader and she’s capable of putting others over whether she wins or loses, and that can only help the roster.
Pending release
Of course, it all depends on whether the WWE releases her or not, and then they’ll be the standard 90 day Non-Compete clause that’ll only fuel fans’ debates on where she and/or Naomi will go.
Vince has taken a pounding over letting some of his talent go like Bray Wyatt and Jeff Hardy, the latter because if set up the possibility of a Hardy Boyz and Young Bucks rivalry for AEW.
So we expect him to do everything he can to smooth things over with Banks and Naomi, but history shows walking out on a show isn’t tolerated in the WWE so this is far from over.
