Over the weekend, YouTuber interviewer, personality, and wrestler Hannibal made news for the wrong reasons when he stabbed Texas-based referee Lando Deltoro several times in the head during his match. Now, we find out that the referee was paid $75 before the match to bleed during an attack. Referee Was Paid $75 for Violent Wrestling Incident According to an Irving Police Department spokesman, Deltoro agreed to bleed during the match after talking with Hannibal—Devon Nicholson—who wrestled the match under his masked Blood Hunter persona. With WCW eeking out a win over WWE in June 1997 but taking a loss in July due to In Your House 16, could WCW Road Wild 1997 get the company back on track? Road Wild has always been one of my favorite WCW PPVs due to the outdoors setting however, it always had a pretty meh crowd. That was because these weren’t folks who came for a wrestling show they were just there since it was Sturgis. The Best of WCW Road Wild 1997 Rey Mysterio Jr taking on Konnan was a match that was going to be good on paper. Although his style changed over time, Konnan really impressed me…

We’re in August 1997 and we’ve got a PPV from Extreme Championship Wrestling: ECW Hardcore Heaven 1997. It’s the company’s second PPV of the year so let’s see if it tops Barely Legal. The Best of ECW Hardcore Heaven 1997 The opener saw Taz defend his WCW Television title against Chris Candido. There was some hullabaloo before the match but what we got here was a really solid bout to kick off the show. It was a standard challenge to Taz where he comes out, obviously accepts the challenge, gets a little more than expected but ends up dumping his opponent on the head and putting them to sleep. Clip it and ship it. A…

Out of this feud it would Mortis and The Cat would go on to be notable stars in WCW and become involved in a number of stories in the company. However, could the team of Mortis and Wrath lasted longer? Could they have become a…

Since we’ve gone into WWE In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede years ago, we’re now in August with WWE SummerSlam 1997: Hart & Soul featuring a main event showdown as The Undertaker defends his WWE Championship against Bret Hart! What a tagline for this one, folks! The Best of WWE SummerSlam 1997 The opener to SummerSlam ’97 was a fun but kind of slow cage match between Mankind and Young Triple H. These two just worked well together during this time and would only get better as the years went on. I really dug this rematch from their King of the Ring ‘97 finals. Mankind left it all on the dancefloor and…

It’s July 1997 and we’re taking a look at WCW Bash at the Beach 1997. We’ve done WWE In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede which was given an 8/10—or an adjusted 4/5 gold medal—back in 2019. Let’s see if this show gives the strongest In Your House show on “Into the Vault” a run for its money. The Best of WCW Bash at the Beach 1997 The Cruiserweight title bout between champion Chris Jericho and Ultimo Dragon is an obvious banger. These two had amazing chemistry when in the ring so this delivered and it’s almost as if WCW learned its lesson about lengthier matches that could drag on. It’s…

A bit of an update on Kim Kardashian filing for a legal divorce from Kanye West. Apparently, during the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert, she was embarrassed by Kanye’s performance. Kanye West Apparently Embarrassed Kim Kardashian During “Runaway” Performance For context, she attended the concert with their kids as a supportive gesture. Also present was sister Kendall Jenner. Perhaps Kardashian wasn’t exactly turned off by the overall performance but the ad-lib of “Runaway” where the lyrics were made into “I need you to run right back to me…more specifically, Kimberly”.
