After being absent from the ring for all of 2019, The Big Show made his return to Monday Night RAW. He would back up Samoa Joe & Kevin Owens in their fight against Seth Rollins & Authors Of Pain. While this return didn’t end in victory, the aging giant isn’t exactly looking for much victory in what could be his final run.
“We’re trying to build my opponent.”
The Big Show was able to come back to the ring after some surgeries to his hips, and is grateful to be back in the ring. While he could be going out and showing that he is still a star, that isn’t what his role in the company is at this point.
“Sometimes I can’t go out and get all my stuff in. We’re trying to build my opponent. I don’t need to be built, I don’t need title runs. I’m established, and I’m comfortable with my career and who I am. My goal is to enhance the people I’m in the ring with and help bring them to superstar level. That’s the part that is the joy now.”
That is what Big Show had to say when it comes to what is going on with him in WWE. He is dedicated to building talent into stars, and frankly if you can beat The Big Show, that does still mean something. He is a multi-time world champion and legend.
Big Show Doesn’t Need Wins Anymore?
He’s not here to get wins either, he is here to create moments. From the same interview he had the following to say.
“I’m not here to get wins. Heck, I don’t know, I think I’ve won two matches in the past five years. It’s not about the win-loss record, it’s about the quality of work. No one has ever come up to me and said, ‘I can’t believe you lost that many times!’ People talk to me about what I’ve done, or cool moments like breaking the ring with Brock or Braun. They care about the moments, not about the win-loss record. And if I do it right, I’ll get myself over.”
Fans do keep track of wins and losses, but at the same time it is more about how good someone looks in performances. Unless they have Big Show go out and lose in 30 seconds to Zack Ryder, he will still have a fantastic aura about him that makes a victory over him mean something. If you have someone like Aleister Black beat Big Show in a hard fought battle, that will elevate Black. They just need to use Big Show wisely.
