The state of Ring of Honors womens division is not ideal to say the very least. They recently fired their champion Kelly Klein, and their roster is paper thin. Many thought the division was dead, and Ring Of Honor would be focusing their attention elsewhere. They instead are changing who was in charge of the division. Previously it was run by Bully Ray, but it will get a fresh look from current ROH Tag Team Champion Jonathan Gresham.
Women Of Honor Tryouts Coming Soon
The technical marvel will reportedly revamp the division, overseeing talent for the up-coming Women of Honor tryout as they try and find the talent that can help this division reach the levels it deserves. There are plenty of smaller names in womens wrestling who could take the spotlight and prove themselves to be stars. In particular I hope to hear Maddison Miles as someone who attends this event, as the 20 year old has proven herself all across Canada and has had dark matches for the Women Of Honor division. She is one of many who have gone overlooked by larger companies, and this could be their ticket to greatness.
All areas of professional wrestling will be covered from in-ring technique to out of the ring attitude and conduct. They will hold exhibition matches that will be looked at in detail, as well as emphasis on promo ability. Atleast one woman will get a shot at glory from this, but they’re not going to be turning away those who had strong performances and show potential. They can’t afford to be too picky.
Jonathan Gresham Is Also Head Trainer At The ROH Dojo
With Gresham also being the head of the ROH Dojo, he could also help these new recruits iron out the flaws they have in their style. Under his eye, we could see a highly technique based style of wrestling take precedent for the women of the company, a style which suits smaller wrestlers well. People like Gresham & Marty Scurll are exactly what ROH needs to enter the new decade strong. They will offer fresh new perspectives to a company that has been creatively bankrupt for a while.
Do you think this will help improve the status of the Women Of Honor division, or is it doomed for failure? Let us know in the comment section down below. The Overtimer is your source for news across the wrestling world, covering everything from WWE to Stardom.
