Kenny Omega has had a rough start to his time in AEW (All Elite Wrestling), always seeming to lose his big matches. He lost to Chris Jericho at Double Or Nothing, PAC at All Out, and Jon Moxley at Full Gear. He will get a chance to redeem himself on next weeks episode of AEW Dynamite when he gets a second shot at PAC.
What Costed Omega His First Match With PAC?
In their first encounter, Omega had intially intended to face Jon Moxley, who unfortunately couldn’t make the All Out event due to a staph infection in his elbow, brought on by injuries suffered in the G1 Climax tournament. Having intended to face an entirely different type of competitor on short notice on a huge stage wasn’t an easy thing to adapt to on the fly.
The Best Bout Machine nearly pulled off the victory at All Out, but The Bastard PAC was able to counter Omegas attempt at his One Winged Angel finisher into his submission known as “The Brutalizer”, a Rings Of Saturn like maneuver. PAC as of late has used the high-fying Black Arrow to an opponents back to set up the submission, but this time he locked it in out of nowhere.
What Will Omega Have To Do Differently?
Now having experienced facing PAC, and having proper time to scout and prepare for this matchup, I feel like this could be the start of Omegas climb back to the top of AEW. He will need to take care to properly avoid the Black Arrow/Brutalizer combo, and maybe even find a way to win besides the One Winged Angel, seeing as PAC knows how to counter it.
What If PAC Wins?
If PAC is able to win a second match in a row against Kenny Omega, I can’t see how AEW can deny him a shot at Chris Jericho & the AEW Championship much longer. There is also Omegas AAA Mega Championship, which PAC would likely earn a chance at with victory.
Both men have lots to gain & prove with this match, and the real winner no matter the result will be us fans, who continue to get PPV caliber matches on TV from AEW. They’ve been giving us plenty of reason to tune in, and next weeks episode will be another cant miss affair.
