The Mens Team For Smackdown Live was recently announced on WWE Backstage on FS1 as consisting of Roman Reigns, Mustafa Ali, Braun Strowman, King Corbin, and Shorty G. Corbin has taken issue with this and in a tweet questioned why Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode aren’t on the team. This situation has spiraled into a matchup for the November 15th episode of Smackdown Live, with Mustafa Ali & Shorty G taking on the former RAW Tag Team Champions with their spots in the Survivor Series match on the line.
Both Teams Advantages For Friday
Mustafa Ali & Shorty G were both a part of the victorious Team Hogan at WWE Crown Jewel, and have been working hard to prove themselves as elite talent as part of Friday Night Smackdown. If victorious, Mustafa Ali will be able to perform infront of his hometown crowd in what would amount to the biggest match of his life. They are both underdogs, and able to find ways to win even under the harshest circumstances, which is their biggest advantage going into this match up.
On the other side of the coin, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode are former Tag Team Champions, giving them a clear advantage in this upcoming match. With them recently aligning themselves with King Corbin, you can expect Corbin to be involved with this matchup, perhaps swinging the odds in their favor to ensure his friends get their spot on the upcoming PPV.
Who Would Be Best For Team Smackdown
While it’s impossible for me to not cheer for Mustafa Ali to remain on Team Smackdown, Dolph Ziggler is one of the best performers in Survivor Series history. The Showoff was the sole survivor in the 2014 Survivor Series 5 vs 5 matchup, getting Team Cena the victory. He was also on the winning side in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2018. Dolph Ziggler has never been on the losing team of the annual elimination style tag match that the event is known for. Having him on your team is a recipe for success, as while arrogant, his skills speak for themselves.
Meanwhile Ali & Gable are untested in this match format. The 5 vs 5 tag match at Crown Jewel was one fall to a finish, they might not be prepared for the absolute endurance round that is the Survivor Series match. I wouldn’t count them out, but Ziggler is much more battle tested.
This should be an exciting tag team matchup, and one that has some stakes which will be nice for a change. This match takes place this evening on Smackdown, don’t miss it, but if you, we will have our Smackdown live coverage to fill you in.
