From January 24th to February 1st, people across America will have a chance to see New Japan Pro Wrestling. This will be the first major tour in America since they announced their US subsidiary, aptly named New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America. If you live in Florida, Tennesee, Georgia, or North Carolina, or surrounding states, this is your chance to see NJPW.
New Japan Pro Wrestling Dates In America
The tour begins in Tampa, Florida at the St. Petersburgh Coliseum on January 24th and ends in Atlanta, Georgia at Coca-Cola Roxy on February 1st. The full tour listing is available on NJPW1972.com.
NJPW held two shows in America after their initial announcement of New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America. Those being NJPW Showdown In San Jose & NJPW Showdown In Los Angeles back in early November.
Will Jon Moxley Be Around?
With Jon Moxley on a war-path to the IWGP United States Championship, the belt he never lost, it’s likely he will be champion come these dates. It would make sense for their United States champ to be front & center, and should Moxley be able to beat current IWGP United States Champion Lance Archer in their Texas Death Match at Wrestle Kingdom 14, that will be him.
Moxley obviously has commitments with All Elite Wrestling, and they have an episode of Dynamite scheduled for January 29th in Cleveland, there is no NJPW show on that day. Moxley could work Dynamite, then catch a plane down to Florida for the January 30th show. It will take some planning, but it’s possible.
There is also a chance that Moxley might be exclusive in America to AEW, preventing him from showing up on NJPW shows in the country, which could be possible as he hasn’t appeared on any of their events in the country thus far.
No Visa Issues In Sight
Last time NJPW did a longer tour of the United States, there roster was hampered by the fact that a few talents were held up due to work visa issues. In the press statement for this tour, they were sure to specify “all our Japanese wrestlers have visas and are ready to travel! “, so all your favorites have a chance to show up.
