The pint sized Scot of the womens division will be around for years to come following news that she has signed a new deal with WWE. In a time where everyone is seeming to want to get out of their deals, it’s refreshing to see someone do the exact opposite.
As reported initially by Squared Circle Sirens, Nikki Cross has signed a new mutliyear deal with the company that has made her into one of the rising stars of womens wrestling.
Nikki Cross In NXT
After an initial one off debut as Nikki Glencross in NXT, Nikki would officially debut as part of the Sanity faction alongside Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, and Sawyer Fulton. Fulton would be quickly replaced by Killian Dain, who Nikki is currently married to.
In NXT, she challenged for the NXT Womens Championship, against both Asuka & Shayna Bazler, but never was able to capture the title. Her Last Woman Standing match with Asuka was the first of its kind for WWE, later being used in the feud with Charlotte & Becky.
Main Roster Success
After joining the main roster and being intitally directionless, she joined up with an unlikely ally in Alexa Bliss. The duo who wouldnt be able to look The Great Khali in the eyes even if one stood on the others shoulders would be an easy fit into the growing WWE Womens Tag Team Championship picture. They would unseat The Iconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) to become champions, and they would hold the titles for 62 days before losing them to The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) at Hell In a Cell.
After losing the titles, Nikki would win a match to become number one contender for Bayleys WWE Smackdown Womens Championship, again in a losing effort.
Her Future
With a few more years on her contract now, her singles championship is nearly guaranteed to eventually happen. Cross is an incredible talent, with a natural ability to get fans behind her.
If she doesn’t win the RAW or Smackdown Womens Championship, I wouldn’t count out her challenging for and possibly winning the NXT UK Womens Championship in the future.
Regardless of what the future holds for the wild scot, it will be interesting to see how she develops as a performer in an ever improving division.
