WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues, Roman Reigns will reveal his mystery partner for tonight’s main event here this evening! We see a dramatic video documenting the history of John Cena in WWE, hyping up his special appearance coming in a couple of weeks. He’s making his return when they come back to Boston, commonly called his hometown. West Newbury is close enough so hey. They then show a little vignette of the history between Otis & Mandy Rose, dating back to the Christmas Eve SmackDown, where Mandy drew him in their Secret Santa exchange. We see a recap of everything they’ve done in the past several weeks since then, though I think they skirted past the parts involving Dolph Ziggler, which is notable.
I have to admit, I found that video package really hilarious. Mostly the point where the music stops and turns dire when Mandy told him she had plans for the night when he first asked for a date… only to pick right back up again when she said she’d be his date on Valentine’s. That was just so beautifully down.Otis finally shows up, roses in hand… but Dolph Ziggler gets to her first, surprising her and sitting down at the table. Otis comes into the restaurant just in time to see her with Dolph. He’s heartbroken and the crowd reacts big to his dismay. Slowly, he sullenly drops the roses and walks away. Amazingly, this was actually foreshadowed. Dolph screwed with Otis and tried to get between them a couple months back.
Anyway, now, out comes the Miz and John Morrison for their match against Roman Reigns and a mystery partner.
Miz says last week the Usos talked a big game, but now it seems like the penitentiary couldn’t be here tonight. Miz says he has always been here. Morrison says he’s been here for one month and he has also always been here! Cracked up at that too. Miz says Roman Reigns and his mystery partner will find out tonight what we all know, that they are the greatest tag team in WWE history. So hey, they actually did establish that the Usos aren’t here this evening, that’s cool.
Roman Reigns makes his way out, we get a quick recap of his feud with King Corbin ahead of their steel cage match. Corbin is banned from the building tonight. Roman’s partner is in fact Daniel Bryan! Also King Corbin is watching from the stands, he bought a ticket.
